Hit Refresh on your Living Room!

Here are our 5 easy ways to freshen your living room:

Our spaces are working harder than ever before. There’s no doubt that after all this time in our homes, we’ve all been looking at the living room with a bit of a tired eye, thinking it could use a little refresh. If livening up your living room is high on your list of things to do when retailers start to reopen, we’ve got some great ideas. Click on the photo to find out about specific product details!

1. Transform with textiles

One of the most budget-friendly ways to make a big change in the feel of your space is to simply switch up the textiles. From pillow covers to throw blankets to curtains, bringing new fabrics into your space can easily change the mood and feel of the room. Imagine your sofa with hot pink throw pillows, or your comfy armchair with a pillow in a black-and-cream geometric print and coordinating textured throw—it’s a simple swap that makes a big impact!

2. Liven up your lighting

New lighting can literally and figuratively brighten up your space—and it can make it a lot more functional, too. A trendy floor lamp will work wonders for freshening up your living room’s look, as will a stunning table lamp. Need some inspiration? Try the Geometric lamp for a trendy minimal space or the Glitter lamp in an eclectic room with traditional elements or the sleek Dotto Table Lamp.

3. Corral clutter

If you’re anything like us, you’ve been spending these weeks of physical distancing decluttering rooms, closets and drawers. But it’s all too easy for the living room to quickly get cluttered again, which means you need somewhere to easily store your stuff. Anything on display should be things you love to look at, and everything else—extra blankets and candles, games, electronics and so on—can easily be tucked away when not in use. If your current living room storage just isn’t cutting it, you might consider a new piece of furniture. We have plenty of options to suit every style and need. The Galley credenza is a great option if you have the wall space, while the Carlotta cabinet is ideal for cozy corners (especially if you love a pop of colour!). If you prefer the airiness of open shelving with storage boxes and baskets to hide small items, the Luxe Bookcase makes a statement while the Maria features clean lines. Looking for just a little extra hidden storage? A storage ottoman, like our 2900, could do the trick.

4. Swap in new accent tables

If your living room is feeling a bit crowded, now might be a good time to rethink tables. You might replace a heavy coffee table with one that has a simple metal frame to bring a visual lightness to your living room (the Belair, Milan and Nathaniel are great options). Or skip a coffee table altogether and opt for nesting side tables featuring a simple surface and metal frame with clean lines. The Bali nesting tables are great for formal spaces and anyone who likes a bit of shine, while the Berlin nesting tables are ideal for those with a more relaxed or industrial style.

5. Bring in a modern armchair

If you have the budget for some new seating but aren’t keen on investing in a sofa right now, an armchair could be the way to go. For a real impact, choose a chair that compliments your living room style but adds interest with its lines or materials. Our 2782 chair’s gold metal frame and tufted navy velvet upholstery feels modern yet sumptuous, while the Zina chair’s shell-like channelled back and soft rose microfibre upholstery brings a feminine touch to a space.
