The Stylish And Efficient Virtual Meeting

The percentage of employees working from home has decreased amid lifting the pandemic restrictions. However, as some of us continue to happily work from home, a new survey by Colliers Canada found that over 60% of Canadian employers were using a hybrid work model in 2022 (half at home, half in the office).

Whatever your circumstances after weathering the Coronavirus storm, the need for our at home work spaces are still prevalent for most of us in 2023. The “zoom meeting environment” for students, employees/employers, recruiters, and the like are what keep us safely connected, but also say so much about us as individuals. Have you ever found yourself carefully analyzing the interior design choices of the person you are speaking to during a virtual meeting? I Have! Everything you present to your viewer will paint a detailed picture of who you are, and it’s always a great practice to take that extra time in portraying yourself in the best light, both figuratively and non-figuratively.

Here are some tips from the Decor-Rest team to have a more powerful impact on your viewer during virtual meetings.

1)   First and foremost, schedule some time before your meeting to check the quality of your internet connection to avoid any disturbances like video lag or pixilation. Then, check your sound quality and make any necessary adjustments on the platform you are using. Depending on the time of day, the lighting could vary substantially from the last time you had a virtual meeting. Adjust lighting levels in the room by opening your windows. Illuminate your face in a way that compliments your features and makes you feel confident by investing in a ring-light. Ring-lights allow you to customize the color temperature and brightness that suits you best. They are also flexible in changing heights and angles for the absolute perfect lighting!

2)   Long zoom meetings require functional furniture to accommodate every task efficiently. I find it helpful to have a flexible table nearby, especially one on wheels to hold a snack or extra office supplies. The Decor-Rest Linda glass table on casters scores an A+ for this exact reason. The Linda comes in a variety of sizes, from small to large, and also has matching bar carts! The casters allow movement to and from your work-space, can easily be concealed from the camera view, or proudly displayed to compliment your environment. Whatever you need Linda for, she is there to deliver!

3)   Why not choose an office chair that suits your everyday décor, and shows off your great sense of taste? Say “yes” to a comfier chair that you will get excited about sitting on, especially for those extra-long meetings. The Decor-Rest Kingston swivel chair has all the comfort and style. The low arm suits most desk heights, and the kidney pillow adds extra comfort, while keeping your posture in check. The Kingston Swivel can be customized in a variety of leather or fabric options too!

4) What about accessories? As you grow and evolve as a person and employee, so should your art and accessories. Try swapping an old picture with a stylish clock, or mirror. The Beth wall mirror includes a lovely brass shelf where you can personalize it with your knick-knacks or favorite fresh flowers. The Tempo wall clock with a 30 inch aluminum metal frame, and open gear design meshes well with many different spaces and tastes. It is bound to keep your meetings on schedule too!
